The Captain Palmer House is a 16-room mansion built in 1852-54 for brothers Nathaniel and Alexander Palmer. Nathaniel Palmer was a boat captain and seal hunter and in 1820 he was the first American to sight Antarctica. The house is filled with memorabilia related to the brothers' lives. Parking is available at the Woolworth Library next door
