Ordered Weiner Schnitzel; my friend ordered the Wurst Platte (sausage entrée) and Pig's Knuckle. The salad was very small and boring. The veal was very chewy. The Pig's Knuckle had very little meat and lots of fat and bone, but I guess that is to be expected. The various sausages were good, but nothing special. The meal portions were rather small. Quality-wise I expected a lot more from this top-rated restaurant. Perhaps it was an unlucky night or a poor choice of menu items. It was extremely busy this Saturday night (I believe every Saturday is), and seating was hard to come by. The service was good.

It's been over a year since I ate here. Last time I was not impressed, but perhaps I had ordered the wrong thing (and the table between the door and dining room did not make me happy). This time we got a nice table in the dining room. The free bread I still don't like – thin, cold, slightly dry, with near frozen butter. I ordered the Rack of Lamb cooked medium in a mushroom sauce along with a salad and buttered noodles. At $27 the lamb was not cheap, but I have to say... this was the best rack of lamb I've ever had, perfectly tender with a most delicious mushroom gravy. The side salad lacked everything except greens, however it was acceptable and the Italian dressing was quite good. The noodles I threw into the mushroom sauce for more flavor. For dessert I ordered the warm apple strudel, which was very good. All in all it was an excellent meal, albeit pricy. My friend ordered the lobster newberg. I thought it was a strange choice for a German restaurant, but he had ordered it several times years ago and really liked it. This time, however, it was not so good. I suspect they use frozen lobster meat. My friend and his wife also got the Wurst Platte (sausages) which they like.
