Massachusetts Waterfalls Information

Be aware that several deaths have occured at waterfalls in Massachusetts due to falls and/or drowning. Access to waterfalls usually requires some hiking on woodland trails. Areas around falls can have steep dropoffs or cliffs; the rocks around falls are often very slippery; and swimming is usually prohibited or ill-advised. Be extremely careful.

The best time to see waterfalls is in the spring, due to large amounts of meltwater. They can also be very beautiful in the winter, but access is often extremely dangerous. Photography is usually best on overcast days to avoid heavy shadows.
