Newport is located on the south end of the island of Aquidneck, in Narragansett Bay. To get there you can drive south on Route 24 (or 138) from Fall River, MA; you can drive east from North Kingstown, RI over the Verrazzano Bridge to Jamestown then over the Pell/Newport Bridge; or you can take a boat.

Newport has been the playground of the rich and famous since the 1800s. It's well-known for the mansions from the "Guilded Age" such as The Breakers and The Elms, and for the path that runs along the shoreline behind these mansions called Cliff Walk. Newport is also famous as the site of the Newport Jazz Festival; as the site of the Tennis Hall of Fame; as a yachting destination; for its beaches; and for its boutique shops and fine dining restaurants (mostly along Thames Street and America's Cup Avenue).
